Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace, an Italian specialty grocer, plans to open its first store in Pennsylvania, located in King of Prussia, in late 2027. The company also intends to expand to southern New Jersey with a store in Moorestown, slated to debut in late 2027.

The two new stores will give Uncle Giuseppe’s a foothold in the Philadelphia metropolitan area, following new locations in the New York City region. Carl DelPrete, Uncle Giuseppe’s CEO and co-founder, stated that Pennsylvania has been part of the company’s growth plans for some time.

Expansion Plans

“Pennsylvania has been part of our growth plans for a while, and King of Prussia is a great place for us to start,” DelPrete said in a statement. “It’s a strong market, and it gives us an opportunity to introduce Uncle Giuseppe’s to a lot of new customers.”

The company’s focus will remain on freshness, quality, consistency, and taking care of the customer, according to DelPrete. He also noted that Uncle Giuseppe’s existing brand recognition in New Jersey will set it up for success in the new location.

New Store Features

Uncle Giuseppe’s plans to bring its distinctive approach to grocery shopping to both new stores, featuring house-made mozzarella and pasta, a wide selection of prepared foods, and an Italian deli. The locations will also carry a wide selection of traditional grocery products, fresh produce, specialty cheeses, and imported Italian items.

According to the company, the move into a new region comes as it presses ahead with efforts to expand around New York City. Uncle Giuseppe’s began operations in 2001 and has mostly focused on growing on Long Island and in northern New Jersey.

In comparison to other grocery store expansions, Uncle Giuseppe’s approach to focusing on quality and customer care has allowed it to maintain a loyal customer base, which will likely be an advantage as it enters new markets. This strategy has been successful for the company in the past, and it will be interesting to see how it plays out in the new locations.

The chain recently opened a location in Greenvale, New York, and intends to debut a store in Levittown, New York, in the fourth quarter of 2026. Once the Levittown location opens, the chain will operate 14 stores.

As Uncle Giuseppe’s continues to expand, it will be important for the company to maintain its focus on quality and customer care, while also adapting to the needs of its new customers in Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey.
